Ascension is made by Formaz, a product of Forma ("we"). This policy explains what the Ascension iOS app does with your information. In short: your photos are never stored on our servers, and we keep only what is needed to run your plan and your squad.
When you run a scan, your front (and optional side) photo is sent to our server only to generate the analysis. Our server passes it to our AI provider, Google Gemini, which returns the scores and plan. Photos are not stored on our servers. They are held in memory for the duration of the request and then discarded. Your photos and results are saved on your device so you can track progress; deleting the app removes them.
Ascension does not ask for your name, email, or a password. The app creates an anonymous account identifier and stores it, along with your habit check-ins and streaks, in our database provider, Supabase. This is what powers squads — small accountability groups that can see each other's streaks and check-ins. Squad members see your chosen display name and streak activity; they never see your photos or scan scores unless you share them yourself.
We do not sell your data. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not share your photos or scan results with anyone other than the AI provider that generates the analysis.
Purchases are handled by Apple. Apple processes your payment and a purchase status that unlocks premium features. We never receive your card details.
We may collect basic, non-identifying crash and usage counts to keep the app working. Our analysis service records a temporary, coarse rate-limit counter (by network address) to prevent abuse; it is not used to identify you and expires automatically.
Ascension is rated 17+ and is intended for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17. If you believe a minor has used the app, contact us and we will delete the associated data.
Ascension gives general grooming, fitness, style, and confidence guidance generated by AI. It is not medical, dermatological, nutritional, or mental-health advice, and it is not a substitute for a qualified professional.
You can delete everything we hold at any time: open the app and go to Settings → Delete my data. This removes your anonymous account, check-ins, streaks, and squad membership from our database. You can also email us at the address below and we will delete it for you. Photos and results stored on your device are removed when you delete the app.
