Privacy Policy
Bearing is published by Forma. Last updated 7 September 2026.
The short version
Bearing has no account, no sign-in and no server. Everything you enter — your name, your marks, the requirements you tick, and the names and relationships your witnesses type — is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. We cannot read any of it. Delete the app and it is gone.
There is no way to contact anyone through this app
Bearing has no user directory, no search, no discovery, no matching and no messaging. It cannot connect you to another user, and it cannot be used by anyone to find or contact you. This is deliberate and is a core safety property of the product, not a feature we intend to add later.
Witnesses
When an adult signs a mark, they type their printed name and how they know you. That text is stored in local storage on your phone, alongside the date. It is never uploaded. Bearing does not contact witnesses, does not verify them, and has no way to reach them.
What we collect
Nothing that identifies you. No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no crash reporting that carries your content.
Purchases
If you subscribe to Bearing Full, the purchase is processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to check whether a subscription is active; it receives a random app-generated identifier and your subscription status, and nothing else. Apple's handling of the purchase is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
Notifications
If you turn on the weekly reminder, notifications are scheduled locally by iOS on your device. No push server is involved.
Age
Bearing is intended for teenagers and young adults. Because it collects nothing and transmits nothing, no personal information is gathered from users of any age.
Your rights
Because your data never leaves your device, there is nothing for us to export, correct or delete on your behalf. Settings → "Erase everything on this phone" removes all of it immediately, as does deleting the app.
