Is Evensong religious?
Yes, plainly. Evensong is a Christian devotional built around Charles Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening and the Bible. It is warm rather than strict, and Christians of many traditions have read Spurgeon for 160 years. If you would rather have a secular daily ritual, Lantern is the sister app for that.
Where do the readings come from?
From Charles Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening (1865), which is in the public domain, lightly updated for modern readers without changing the substance. The verse each reading rests on comes from the World English Bible, also public domain. The one-line prayers are original.
What is an evening examen?
An old Christian practice of looking back over the day before sleep. Evensong keeps it to three questions: what am I grateful for, where did I fall short, and what is one thing for tomorrow. Your answers are saved to a private journal on your phone.
What is free and what is Pro?
